to your new purchase. Please take a few moments to
familiarize yourself with its contents.

date, follow these steps.
1. Press the Start button.
2. Select Programs.

4. Choose QuickVerse 7.0 Read Me.
To print this information at a later date, follow the

New TrueType font.
------------------------------------------------------

which provides a helpful introduction to your

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR OLD QUICKVERSE SOFTWARE:
By special arrangement with the copyright holders
of the books and Bibles provided with your
QuickVerse product, FindEx.com Inc. is able to
offer special upgrade pricing to previous owners of
QuickVerse.
If this software was purchased as an upgrade to a
previous version of the software, then your software
license covers both the new AND the old software.
As a result, it is unlawful to sell or donate the
previous version to any party.
It is recommended that you store your previous
version in a dry, safe place. If you ever need to
reinstall QuickVerse 7.0, you may need the older
CDs and/or floppy disks to complete the upgrade
portion of the installation.

------------------------------------------------------
WORD PROCESSOR MACROS:
QuickVerse supports Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), which
can be used by other programs to allow interaction
with QuickVerse.
Word processors are an example of programs that can
often use DDE to interact with QuickVerse. This
interaction is "programmed" into the word processor
via macros.
If you would like to learn more about using DDE with
your word processor, first read the DDE.TXT file
provided with your QuickVerse product. Then refer
to your word processor's documentation for information
about writing macros and using DDE.
Macros that have already been written for some versions
of word processing programs may already be available.
Visit the QuickVerse Internet site to see if a macro
is available for your word processor.
To download the WordPerfect macro, go to
Http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/9182/webdoc5.htm.

------------------------------------------------------
NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE:
In 1995, the Lockman Foundation released an update to
the New American Standard Bible. Prior versions of
QuickVerse provided both the "original" and "updated"
versions of this Bible. The updated version was
referred to as the "New American Standard Bible, 1995
Edition."
The Lockman Foundation is no longer distinguishing
between these two revisions of the NASB. Current
printed editions of the NASB are the 1995 edition.
Consequently, QuickVerse now offers only this version
of the NASB. The New American Standard Exhaustive
Concordance has been updated for use with this
edition as well.
------------------------------------------------------
CASE SENSITIVE SEARCHING
1. Case sensitive searches require substantially
more processing to complete. Use a case
sensitive search only when it is imperative to
distinguish a word by its case, and limit your
search only to the specific books where the
case is important.
2. For the electronic editions of various Bible
translations published by Parsons Technology,
the word "LORD", referring to the Old Testament
Hebrew "Yahweh", has been rendered in all
capital letters instead of the "small caps"
style often used by print publishers. This
typographical change is required because letters
with the small caps style are lower case letters,
not capital letters. By using all capital
letters in the electronic edition, the word
"LORD" can be distinguished from "Lord" and
"lord" using a case-sensitive search.
------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLING BOOKS TO YOUR HARD DRIVE
The QuickVerse Setup program will not install the books
to your hard drive. However, installing the books to your
hard drive is advantageous because (a) reading information
from a hard drive is often faster than reading from
a CD, and (b) it reduces or eliminates the need to
swap CDs while running the program.
To install books to your hard drive, select Library Management
from the File menu. Drag books from the CD to your hard drive
to install them.
IMPORTANT: you must use Library Management to perform
the installation. Do not use the Windows Explorer
to copy books from a CD to your hard drive, as
QuickVerse will not "know" that the files are
present on the hard drive.
------------------------------------------------------
DOWNLOAD FREE SOFTWARE:
Visit the QuickVerse.com web site to download
free software! You can read our newsletter Chapter
and Verse, plus you'll find demonstration versions of
our popular software and free STEP books that will
enhance your Bible study. Visit us at
http://www.quickverse.com
to see what is available!
------------------------------------------------------
UNLOCK BOOKS AND EXPAND YOUR LIBRARY:
In addition to the books that you have already
purchased, your QuickVerse CD may include additional
books in a "locked" format. You can open these books
but you cannot read the book until you have purchased a
key for that book.
If you want to learn more about the books that are
available for you to unlock, and QuickVerse is running,
choose Locked Book Browser from the View menu. If
QuickVerse is not running, simply insert any of the
CDs numbers 2, 3, or 4 in the CD-ROM drive and a browser
will automatically run that gives you information about
each of the locked books on the CD.
The ability to unlock any book at your convenience
provides several advantages:
1. The book is available on a CD that you already
own, so "CD swapping" is reduced.
2. The book can be immediately available for use; it
is not necessary to ship any additional disks or
CDs to you.
3. You can choose which books interest you; you don't
need to buy a whole set of books to obtain the one
or two that interest you.
------------------------------------------------------
BUY BOOKS ON THE INTERNET:
Several STEP books are available for purchase at the
Parsons Technology Internet site. You may purchase
and immediately download individual books.

UNINSTALLING QUICKVERSE, VERSION 4 AND OLDER:
After you have installed, used, and grown comfortable
with this new version of QuickVerse, you may desire
to uninstall any 4.0 or older version of QuickVerse that you
have installed.
We suggest that you perform a manual uninstall,
following the steps below.
Since QuickVerse 4.0 does not set any registry entries
or install to directories other than its own
directory, performing a manual uninstall is easy.
You only need to delete the program directory and
remove QuickVerse from the Start menu.
To perform the manual uninstall, follow these steps.
1. Locate the directory that contains QVCUSTOM.DLL.
This directory will contain an older version of
QuickVerse.
2. Verify that any data files that you have created,
such as note and index files, have been moved
from this directory location to another location.
If you have not done so already, run the "Upgrade
utility provided with QuickVerse 7.0.
a. Click the Start button.
b. Choose Programs, then choose the Program Group
where you selected to install QuickVerse.
The default group is
Parsons > QuickVerse 7 >
c. Choose the Upgrade shortcut.
3. When you are satisfied that all of your important
data has been copied to another location, delete
the directory containing QVCUSTOM.DLL.
If you have installed additional translations for
use with QuickVerse 4.0 or older, those
translations installed to the QuickVerse directory
will also be deleted.
4. Click the Start button.
5. Choose Settings.
6. Choose Task Bar & Start Menu.
7. Choose the Start Menu Programs tab.
8. Press Remove, then find and remove the old
QuickVerse entries from the program menu. The
following entries are all associated with
QuickVerse 4.0 or older, and can be safely
removed.

------------------------------------------------------
IF QUICKVERSE REPEATEDLY ASKS FOR A CD:
If you use Windows 95, Windows 98 or Window NT and you
use a 16-bit CD-ROM driver for your CD-ROM drive, then
QuickVerse may be unable to reliably read data from
your CD drive.
If you experience problems reading from the CD, or if
QuickVerse repeatedly asks for a CD to be inserted
even though the CD is already inserted, then the
problem may be caused by your CD-ROM driver.
16-bit drivers are designed to work with DOS and
Windows 3.1, not with Windows 95, 98 or NT. It is not
uncommon to experience problems when using these older
16-bit drivers with Windows 95, 98 or NT.
How can you know if you are using a 16-bit driver?
Look in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If the MSCDEX driver
is being loaded in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, then you
are probably using a CD-ROM driver designed for DOS
and Windows 3.1.
You may also check the Performance tab after clicking
on the My Computer icon and selecting Properties from
the popup menu. If the file system indicates that
some drives are using MS-DOS compatibility mode, then
it is possible that you are still using a 16-bit
CD-ROM driver.
If you find that you are using a 16-bit driver and
that the QuickVerse Library is unable to read from
the CD or repeatedly prompts for the CD to be
inserted, you must install a 32-bit CD-ROM driver
designed for Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, or ME. Your
Windows setup disks (or CD-ROM) may contain the driver
hat you need. If not, you may be able to obtain a
driver from either Microsoft or from the maker of
your CD-ROM drive. Several companies allow you to
download the latest drivers from the Internet or from
online services. Be sure to ask for a 32-bit driver
designed for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT,
Windows 2000 or Windows ME.
------------------------------------------------------
IF YOU CANNOT OPEN MAPS IN PARSONS BIBLE ATLAS:
For the convenience of those who will copy and then
edit maps using the QuickVerse Map Editor program,
the maps used by the Parsons Bible Atlas use
"long filenames." That is, the filename of the map
may be "Abraham's Migration from Ur.map" instead of
a more cryptic "ABCD1234.map".
While most CD-ROM drivers now support long filenames
on CD, some older drivers may only recognize files
of the older "8.3" format. An older driver such as
this will not recognize the files on the CD.
If you encounter this problem, it will be necessary to
install an updated CD-ROM driver that supports long
file names. Contact your computer or CD-ROM vendor
for information.
